Mid-Year Leadership Check-In: Are You Leading the Way You Meant To?

You had a vision for how you wanted to lead this year. Midway through—have you stayed close to it, or drifted into the familiar?

If your team isn’t where you want it to be, now might be a good time to look in the mirror.

The halfway point of the year sneaks up on most leaders.

The calendar says there’s still time. But the energy in your team? The clarity behind your leadership goals? That might tell a different story.

For some, this is when leadership starts to drift. Not because anything’s broken—  but because familiar routines take over.
You’re busy. But are you aligned?

We’ve seen it happen again and again:

  • Goals stay on the wall, but momentum fades.
  • Meetings happen, but meaningful communication stalls out.
  • Leaders keep pushing, but the culture starts to feel disconnected.

So here’s a question:  Are you leading the way you meant to this year?

And if not—what’s gotten in the way?

This mid-year moment can be powerful—not because it demands a reinvention,
but because it invites you to notice.

To step out of the day-to-day.  To reconnect with your leadership vision. To reflect.

Mid-Year Leadership Reflection Checklist

  • Have I been leading with the level of presence and intention I committed to in January?

  • Are my actions aligned with the culture I want to create?

  • What have I avoided addressing—either with myself or with my team?

  • Where has communication gone flat or surface-level?

  • What’s one leadership habit I meant to shift that I’ve let slide?

  • Is my team more connected—or more fragmented—than they were six months ago?

This isn’t about grading yourself.  It’s about noticing yourself.

This kind of leadership reflection doesn’t need a retreat or a re-org. It starts with quiet reflection, a willingness to look honestly at yourself and having an open conversation with someone you trust.

Whether that means recommitting, pivoting, or simply acknowledging what’s true—your team will feel the shift.

What do you notice when you pause long enough to reflect?

You don't need to lead alone. We're here to help.
